A Little About Myself
I am Melise Akcay, a UI/UX Designer based in Schifferstadt, Germany.
Most recently, I worked as a Lead Frontend Developer and UI/UX Expert at Capgemini, where I designed intuitive and engaging digital experiences for industries such as manufacturing and automotive. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams, I developed user-centered interfaces, ensuring a seamless balance between design, development, and business goals. My ability to integrate usability, accessibility, and technical feasibility has allowed me to craft products that are both aesthetically appealing and highly functional.
I started my career as a Frontend Developer, which gives me a unique technical perspective on how design translates into real-world applications. This background enables me to bridge the gap between design and engineering, ensuring smooth implementation and consistency across platforms. My passion for human-centered design led me to transition fully into UI/UX, where I now focus on creating meaningful and accessible experiences that enhance people’s daily lives.
I hold a degree in Computer Science from Duale Hochschule Baden-Württemberg, Karlsruhe, where I developed a deep appreciation for human-centered design. My thesis on the Accessibility of a RoboAdvisor in the financial sector reinforced my passion for inclusive and user-friendly solutions. To fully commit to UI/UX, I earned a User Experience Designer Certification from the XDI Institute of Experience Design, where I specialized in user research, interaction design, and usability testing. This combination of academic knowledge and hands-on experience has shaped my strategic, problem-solving approach to design.
Having lived in multiple cities, I’ve learned to adapt quickly to new environments, a skill that directly influences my design philosophy—embracing diverse perspectives, cultures, and user behaviors to create inclusive and engaging digital experiences. Outside of work, I’m always exploring the latest design trends, discovering new food spots, reading, or chasing the closest waves.
